EPISODE 1

Hello and welcome to Exploring New Adventures with The Traveling Aquarian Podcast. Im your host Keyanna.

I will share my personal experience of places I have visited, invite guests to share some tips on traveling, and inspire you to explore new adventures locally and abroad.

In today’s episode, I will introduce you to:

  • Who the Traveling Aquarian is?
  • What inspired me to start my podcast.
  • And what you can expect in future episodes.

Who is the Traveling Aquarian?

I’m a mother, wife, hippie, love mysteries, conspiracy videos, alien movies, spontaneous, and I am an Aquarian. When I’m not traveling, I work full-time as a marketing manager.

I’m not this influencer who is trying to sell or tell you about fabulous dream vacations or tell you about me being a world traveler. That is something I would like to do in the future. Travel the world. I have a bucket list. My dream vacations are Italy, Greece, Peru, and Iceland. I have more but these are on my top list.

I’m here to share how I traveled on a budget with my family. What do we do when we go away, and our boxer Dakota needs to go to a sitter? I laugh every time. The dog has a babysitter. And a good one I may say.

So, why did I start this podcast?

Picture it, in 1990 a girl in New Jersey. Yes, I also have a love for the tv show Golden Girls. Growing up, back in my day. There was no computer, but we had the entire volume of the Encyclopedias. I would go through each one and read about different countries and dream about visiting them. I grew up less fortunate and going to these places would be a dream. I love all the Indiana Jones movies and even wanted to be an archeologist growing up. I thought it would be cool discovering ancient artifacts.

Fast Forward to adulthood.

I took pictures a lot and invested in a professional camera. I’m a nature lover. But I had no idea where to go. I wasn’t a big traveler at the time. And I was nervous about driving far. Something, that I’m happy that changed about me. I went to Google and searched, “places to visit for great photos near me.”

To my surprise, there was a garden near me. It was 20 minutes from my home, and they were giving a photography class. The garden was also 10 minutes from my job at the time.

From that moment I was hooked and started looking for more places to capture my photos. I started leaving reviews on Google and became a Google Guide contributor. I have given my honest review of the places I have visited. My photos on Google have over 13 million views.

My goal with this podcast is to get you out of your comfort zone and be adventurous. To get the family off the couch and from behind the electronic gadgets.

Maybe you’ll jump out of an airplane like I did. That’s another story to share.  I’ll have my husband on as a guest because it was his bright idea. All I’m going to say is I’m alive to bring my experience back to you. But all jokes aside, it was an exhilarating experience.

For my listeners who prefer to stay on the ground. I want to share the places I have been and how I saved money for my trips and give you small history lessons.

What will the show be about?

I will focus on visiting places in the Tri-State area of New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. My experience visiting Virginia, Tennessee, and Hawaii. Traveling to Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, and one of my favorite places. Mexico.

Who knew, Sleepy Hollow was a real place? Okay, maybe some knew, but I didn’t, and others told me they didn’t know as well until I shared my blog about my visit. I think it would have made the book more interesting with visiting the place where the story was inspired from. Plus, I got a history lesson from the book The Headless Horseman.

I’m hoping to help you not make the mistakes I did when traveling. Like the first time, I went on vacation. I overpacked and went snorkeling not knowing how to swim. I did say I was adventurous.

I want to show you how to find places in your backyard and start making memories. How I find deals on some events and things you should know before you go.

This summer, I was dealing with depression. I’m a remote worker and I’m going through perimenopause. I let the days go by and realized, I had to get back out. I got out of my funk and got back to hitting the road. I mentally felt better, and motivated, and got out my list of places I want to go and came here to inspire you to do the same.
