The water tower which is now abandoned and closed was designed in the early 20th century. The original structure had a wooden windmill and two balconies that overlooked the beautiful landscape. The water tower was functioned to provide water to the main house.
The garden is maintained by great volunteers. They are different flowers, plants, and trees that surround the site. There are hiking trails that connect to Jockey Hollow, Lewis Morris Park, and the Scherman-Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary.
We enjoyed a beautiful day exploring this amazing estate. We walked through a short trail. (I thought the driveway was private and we parked in the parking lot of where the trails start). You may drive your car through the dirt road and park at the estate.
Events are held here including plant sales and you can have a picnic or sit and listen to the nature around you. To learn more about Cross Estate Gardens visit the website: https://www.crossestategardens.org/
