Barnegat Lighthouse State Park
We had a pleasure of taking a road trip out to the Barnegat Lighthouse. Located 208 Broadway, Barnegat Light, NJ 08006. This is something I wanted to capture and photograph for a long time. The drive would take me over a little of 2 hours. After putting the address in my GPS on a beautiful Saturday, that trip was going to take me over 3 hours. I wasn’t going to let a little traffic hold me back.
I brought along my 7 year old daughter for the ride. (She’s been my adventure buddy throughout the summer). I suggest bringing along snacks in the car so you don’t have to stop or eat before you go. She tend to get car sick sometimes so I was hoping the drive would be fine for her. I gave her my phone and she watched YouTube videos to keep her occupied for the trip.
After the traffic delays, a long time spent at a fast food restaurant, toll booths (I really need to get a EZ pass) and a drive over the bridge to Long Beach Island, we made it. The smell of the salt and sounds of the ocean waves put a smile on my face.
Barnegat Lighthouse was a great experience. We climbed 434 stairs in total to the top and bottom! I didn’t realize how out of shape I was and took a few breaks making it up the stairs. It was much easier going down. I think I did enough exercises for the year. We had a view of Long Beach Island, Barnegat Bay, and Island Beach.
Entrance is free with parking. There is a fee to climb the stairs. Children 5 and under are free. CASH ONLY $1 for children 6-11 and $3 for 12 to adult.
